All Magic Box products come with a standard 1-year DWS Motorsport warranty. If you experience a product defect within the warranty period, contact DWS Motorsport with your order details so we can assess the issue and provide the appropriate support.

Yes. This applies to both Magic Box V5 and Magic Box V10. Before servicing, diagnostics with the XC2 tool, or other work is carried out on the motorcycle, always disconnect both ACC2 wires from the Magic Box.

After the work has been completed:

1. Make sure the motorcycle is completely switched off.
2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
3. Reconnect both Magic Box ACC2 wires.
4. The motorcycle can then be switched on again.

Important: Do not reconnect the ACC2 wires while the motorcycle or its electronics are still active.

The KTM/Akrapovič Performance ECU Mapping disables cruise control in the ECU software. The Magic Box does NOT restore or re-enable the cruise control function. It does not change the ECU software.

On some supported 990 models, the Akrapovič mapping also unlocks the Engine Braking menu, giving the rider additional control over the motorcycle’s engine-braking characteristics.

These functions are determined by the KTM/Akrapovič mapping, not by the Magic Box.

Yes. You can install the Magic Box at home first and ride the motorcycle to your KTM dealer afterwards to have the applicable Akrapovič performance mapping installed. This is no problem.

Installation takes approximately 30 minutes on average.

Magic Box V10: The type of indicators or lighting used does not affect operation. Aftermarket lighting is no problem.

Magic Box V5: Aftermarket indicators usually work without any problems — in our experience, roughly 9 out of 10 setups work correctly. However, certain aftermarket lighting configurations can occasionally cause compatibility issues.

If you experience a problem with aftermarket lighting on a V5 setup, contact DWS Motorsport. We are happy to take a look at your setup and help find a solution.

We often see this after the motorcycle has been parked for a longer period, for example after winter storage. In many cases, the Magic Box V5 itself is not the cause.

After a long period of inactivity, battery voltage may have dropped or the battery condition may have deteriorated. Even when the battery still appears to have sufficient voltage, the voltage can drop too far while the engine is being cranked.

If the voltage drops too low during starting, the Magic Box V5 may not receive enough voltage to operate correctly. This can cause the “Indicator Fault” message and prevent the motorcycle from starting.

Quick check: Try starting the motorcycle with a suitable battery booster or jumper cables connected. If the problem disappears, the motorcycle battery is likely the cause. Fully charging or replacing the battery may be necessary depending on its condition.

If the problem remains with a known-good battery or external power source, contact DWS Motorsport and we will help troubleshoot the issue further.

Important: Make sure the motorcycle is completely switched off — including the display and headlight — and wait at least 10 seconds before switching it on again. Do not start the motorcycle too quickly in succession.

If “Road Approval Expired” remains and the motorcycle enters limp mode, perform the following reset procedure:

1. Switch the motorcycle completely off.
2. Start the engine.
3. Let the engine run for 5 seconds.
4. Switch the engine completely off.
5. Wait 10 seconds.
6. Repeat this complete procedure 5 times.

The “Road Approval Expired” message should disappear after completing the reset procedure. If the problem remains after five cycles, contact DWS Motorsport and we will help check the installation and setup.
